Mom Invites Kids To Apply For The Chores!

[Reading Time: 3 Minutes]

Mom creates “household jobs” and makes kids apply to earn allowance money.

Shaketha Marion McGregor is a mom-of-three from Georgia, USA, who wanted to teach her beloved children about life, hard work and earning money, so she decided that from now on, they won’t be getting their allowance by simply coming to her and nagging for it! 🙂

She created a hiring event where her kids had to apply for “jobs” around the house, and they could literally earn their allowance, just like grown-ups.

Essentially showing her kids what to expect when they grow up in the world and move through the Employee – Self-Employed – Business Owner – Investor Stages.

Check out what she posted on Facebook:

It actually makes a lot of sense, her kids get to learn you get what you give in this world, the bigger the problem you solve for people, the more people are willing to pay you and about responsibility and being proactive about your destiny.

Shaketha seems to have the soul of a successful businesswoman, because the numbers on her Facebook post skyrocketed very quickly. The post received more than 213k likes, over 35k comments, and more than 130k chares.

The job options for the kids were kitchen manager, laundry supervisor and lead housekeeper.

She even made application forms 🙂

Shaketha’s oldest son Jahkeem is 13, daughter Takeia is 10 and daughter Serinity is 6. Naturally, the everyday necessities can get a bit expensive for a large family, so the mom came up with this brilliant idea.

She even sent her son a rejection letter after he applied for a position that had already been filled. Again, teaching a valuable life skill, how to handle constructively handle rejection.

Successful candidates received a confirmation letter and even got bonuses (lolly pops)! 🙂

Shaketha’s number of likes and shares her post received and the number of people that had a positive response to her post, indicate she may be on to a great idea here!
